Building an Innovative and Equitable Future Educational Landscape

The Education Lab

At the Sublingual Education Lab Group, we're not just reimagining education; we're revolutionizing it. We invite you to be a part of this transformative journey, where learners and educators come together to challenge norms, embrace innovation, and reshape the landscape of education.

who we are

We are a passionate community of learners, educators, and thinkers who believe that education is not a fixed entity but a dynamic force of change. Our mission is to empower every learner and amplify the impact of educators by breaking down barriers, championing diversity, and co-creating educational paradigms that truly serve the needs of all.

let's redefine learning together.

In the Education lab, we are…

✨ Embracing All Learners

We're committed to creating a learning ecosystem that respects and supports the unique strengths and differences of every learner, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.

✨ Challenging the Status Quo

The Education Lab Group is a hub for courageous thinkers who dare to challenge the norms of traditional education. We explore new ways of thinking, being, and doing, sparking conversations that redefine what education can be.

✨ Advancing Safety and Accessibility

Safety and accessibility are paramount. We're expanding the boundaries of conventional belief systems in schools and learning environments, ensuring that education is not just informative but also safe, inclusive, and empowering.

✨ Empowering Neurodiverse Education

We believe in the power of cognitive diversity. Our commitment to neurodiverse education seeks to unleash the untapped potential in every mind, fostering an inclusive learning environment that celebrates differences.

✨ Advocating for Equity

We're advocates for a future where education knows no bounds. Our lab group actively works towards equitable and enriching educational futures, contributing to equal access to quality education for all.

"I love the way the Education Lab brings together so many people with different motivations. We have preschool parents, college students, parents of older neurodivergent kids, and educators at all levels. And we all have this common goal to improve the experience of learners, but we have such diverse perspectives about why it matters to us at our various stages in life."

FAQs

  • The Education Lab Group is a completely inclusive space. Anyone who is passionate about learning about education norms and how they affect learners is welcome to join. Our focus is on creating a diverse and inclusive environment that encourages open dialogue and collaboration.

  • Nope! While the Education Lab Group is dedicated to supporting educators, we believe that achieving our goals requires the participation of all individuals. We welcome people of all backgrounds to join us!

  • Absolutely! We understand that some individuals may prefer to join the Zoom just to listen and absorb the discussions without actively participating in every session. Your presence and willingness to engage with the topics are valuable contributions to the collective learning experience.

  • We use a few digital tools for our Lab groups!

    1. Our Digital Community

This private community is a place for all members to asynchronously interact and share. Here, you'll find a feed where you can share thoughts, questions, articles, or even longer-form ideas. This is also where you can keep track of and RSVP for future virtual live Lab sessions.

    2. Zoom

While someday we hope to have all our members gather IRL for a Lab Group event, we gather for our regular sessions on Zoom. Many members are on-camera and speaking during sessions, but some members choose to participate off-camera, by Zoom chat, or even listening on mute.

    3. Digital Whiteboard

When we collaborate and co-create as a group, we generally use Miro. Our workis open-source and transparent, so feel free to explore it!

  • No, you don't have to commit to attending every session. We encourage an open and flexible approach. Feel free to join the Education Lab Group sessions that align with your attention and availability. This is a space where you can come and go as you please, contributing your insights whenever you're present. RSVP in our community to whatever lab sessions you can make so we know how many to expect, but there are no commitment requirements.

  • Mind Palace

Our Mind Palaces are a way for us to enter the space in a thoughtful yet engaging way. From playful brainstorms about magazine headlines for Women@Work to a dissection of our understanding of words like "power," "natural," and "bravery," the Mind Palaces put us in the right headspace to connect and explore together.

    Community Updates

This is a section of the Lab time that is open to all - if anybody has anything they'd like to bring up to the group, or if community organizers have any announcements or upcoming schedule changes, this is when they will do it.

    Rabbit holes

This is the exciting part of the group discussion! Here, we'll explore any of a wide range of topics, including agency, parenthood, societal expectations for women, the history and status quo of womanhood, feminism, women's health, finances, DEIB, LGBTQIA+ rights, agism, and more. Our goal is to explore diverse perspectives and challenge existing norms in the workplace.

This is also where some members may "show and tell" thoughts, work, or relevant observations - this sparks invaluable conversation and it is absolutely encouraged!

    Ending Mind Palace

To wrap things up, we usually end with a simple Mind Palace that leaves us with hope. Often, it's a question about what members feel most grateful for leaving the session.

  • Join our digital community! Once there, you'll have access to all of the conversations and articles that members share, as well as the dates, times, and RSVP links for future virtual live Lab sessions and Liminal Space sessions.
